Stephen W. Laird, of Boise, ID, passed away March 11, 2017 with his family by his side after an extended battle with COPD and Congestive Heart Failure. Steve was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on August 31, 1944, to Lauris Leslie and Margaret Aileen (Johnson) Laird. He joined an older brother Richard and sister Sydney. He was then followed by younger brother Jonathon. His childhood was spent exploring the hills around Dubois and McCall Idaho. He spent his later teen years and early 20’s in southern California. He was in the Navy in the early 60’s and then spent many years bumming around southern California being a hippie type person.
On a trip back home to McCall to visit his family he met and then married Mary (Kathy) Crockett in McCall on January 10, 1970. Son James (Jamie) was born in May of 1971.
Steve had many professions during his long life, but was most excited about operating heavy equipment and panning for gold.
Steve is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy Laird; a son, Jamie Laird (Rean), 3 grandchildren Selina Ayers, Justin Allen and Jesi Warburton along with 6 great grandchildren, his sister Sydney Laird Chalfant, mother and father-in-law Ronald and Patricia Bowling, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, and special friends, He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Richard and Jonathon.
Steve requested no services but wanted all friends and family to gather together and reminisce about all of the good and bad times. There will be a potluck gathering at Steve and Kathy’s house on April 15th starting 2:00 in the afternoon and going until we run out of stories.
