Steve Keith Harder Obituary (1956

Steve Keith Harder, 58, of Boise passed away on Mar. 21 following a suicide attempt on Mar. 19. He was born in Boise on Nov. 18, 1956, and raised from infancy by his adoptive parents, the late R. Keith and June Harder of Nampa. Steve was a graduate of Nampa High School. He and his wife, Patricia, were married in 1980 in Boise, where they lived and raised their five children together until their separation in 2002. Steve loved carpentry, building, and gardening, but his true passions were sports and music. He coached youth baseball and basketball for many years and took great joy in attending various rock concerts with his children. He owned several local businesses throughout his life, including H & H Cleaning Service at the time of his death. Steve was hard-working, generous, and unfailingly honest. Unfortunately, he was also given to holding grudges, and drinking, which, ultimately, consumed him. He is survived by his five adoring children: Steven, Sean, Daniel, and Paul Harder, all of Boise; and Nicole Barnes, of Twin Falls. He is also survived by fifteen healthy and happy grandchildren. Finally, he is survived by Joan Ege, of Boise, who lovingly and faithfully accompanied him through better and worse; through richer and poorer; in sickness and in health. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our local paramedics and the MICU personnel at St. Luke's Hospital, whose heroic efforts gave all of us the opportunity to say a final goodbye. Memorial services will be held at Christ Church (the little one by the BSU football stadium) at noon on Apr. 6, followed by a wake at the District Coffeehouse downtown. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests that you remember Steve by playing an old song at outrageous volume, or by observing a week of brazen chauvinism.
