Richard Permenter

Boise, Idaho

Richard Lee Permenter, lovingly known as Rick, passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 71, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Rick was born and raised in Fairfield, California, where he built lifelong friendships and memories that followed him throughout his life. He spent many years working in the grocery business, including a long and proud career with Lucky’s Supermarket. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way.

Rick was known for his strength, determination, and competitive spirit. In softball he earned the nickname “Pound for Pound,” and in karate he was proudly called “The Champ.” Yet his greatest passion was fishing. Rick was famously known as the STRIPER KING, and nothing brought him more joy than being out on the water with a rod in his hands.

To many, Rick was simply Papa Rick. He loved teaching children how to fish, sharing not only his skills but his patience, humor, and love for life.

Rick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Becquie, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage in January 2026. He is also survived by his children Ricky Permenter, Troy Permenter, and KatyMay Jackson; his sisters Liz Brooks, Susan Monez, and Teresa Shafer; and his cherished grandchildren Justin Permenter, Hailey Permenter, Trenton Silas, Ricky Permenter, and Hannah Permenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Robbie, and his big brother Jack.

Rick was a great man who loved with his whole heart. He lived fully and fought bravely. Though cancer took his body, it never took his spirit.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 14, 2026, from 1pm - 5pm at 3444 Laguna Creek Trail, Vacaville, CA - where family
