Eagle, Idaho
Lyn Louise was born September 30, 1954 in Davenport, Iowa. She was the youngest of six children born to Eugene and Agnes Schwerdtfeger. In the early 1960’s, Lyn moved with her family from Iowa to Norwalk, California. It was there that she completed her schooling and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1973.
Lyn attended her senior year of high school as a married woman. She met Craig Gibson in March 1970 at the local roller skating rink. They were married on July 29, 1972 in a backyard ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Lyn and Craig went on to have three daughters (Heather, Melissa, and Sarah) and five grandchildren (Joshua, Ethan, Spencer, Sarah, and Thomas). Throughout their marriage, they lived in Lakewood, Bellflower, Diamond Bar, and Fullerton, California. After 26 years of marriage, Lyn and Craig divorced. They remained close until Craig passed away in 2023.
Lyn was always the center of attention. Whether volunteering at the school, supporting her kids in everything from dance to soccer, or just hanging out, Lyn was the ultimate fun mom. She was also the life of the party with her friends. Lyn loved to dance and sing and did so whenever she could. Her favorite place to be was anywhere near the beach. Lyn spent a lot of time at the beach with Craig in their younger years. As she got older, she loved to spend time in Seal Beach, both alone and with her kids and grandkids.
Lyn began her struggle with early onset dementia after retiring from CNA Insurance in 2019. She remained in her own home in La Habra, California until early 2025 when it became unsafe for her to be alone. Lyn moved to Southern Idaho in 2025 to be close to two of her daughters who could assist her with her struggles. Sadly, her condition progressed rapidly and she passed away in her sleep in memory care on February 28, 2026. All three daughters had been by her side.
Lyn is survived by three daughters, Heather Bradley, Melissa Crowther, and Sarah Gibson; two son-in-laws, Jason Bradley and Jim Crowther; four grandchildren, Joshua, Spencer, Sarah, and Thomas; three siblings, Linda Callecod, Patrick Schwerdtfeger, and Laura Smuts; close friends throughout the years, Michael Arceo, Rick and Brenda Hale, Jan Harju, Sue Durban, and Shelly Hines; and her beloved dog, Riley.
Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Agnes Schwerdtfeger; siblings Dennis Schwerdtfeger and Richard Schwerdtfeger; ex-husband Craig Gibson; and grandson Ethan Parra, all of whom we know welcomed her home.
