Jon Hetherington Obituary (1961 - 2024)

Jon Almon Hetherington October 24, 1961- May 21, 2024, Jon Almon Hetherington, beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on May 21, 2024, at the age of 62. Jon’s life journey wasn’t an easy one and he faced many challenges through the years. He had once again dusted himself off and was making great forward progress toward his goals when his life ended. Jon spent his youth in both Emmett and Boise. He graduated from Boise High School in 1981. Jon became a father in 1989 when his only child Jon Mathew Hetherington was born. Being a dad, and later a papa, brought Jon the greatest joy in life. Jon had a soft heart for both people and animals. His pets Ruby and Ben couldn’t have asked for a more devoted dog dad. Jon said “I love you” often and always parted with a hug. He was a storyteller in a long-line of storytellers. He was always late, always showed up, and always left last. At family dinners he was asked to bring dessert but not appetizers. Jon had found acceptance and a church home at Eagle Christian Church. He loved using his talents to serve his church both in the audio video booth as well as donating his skills as a locksmith. Jon was preceded in death by his father Don Hetherington. He will be greatly missed by his son Jon Mathew (Leesa) Hetherington, grandchildren Jon Michael, Elizabeth, and Allison, mother Ruth Hetherington, stepmother Imajean Hetherington, siblings Jim (Rhonda) Hetherington, Jena (Casey) Brydson, Tony (Heidee) Browne, and Jeff (Lindsay) Hetherington, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jon always wanted to be the favorite uncle. A celebration of life, officiated by Jon’s nephew Gabe Hetherington, will be held on June 14, 2024, at 3 pm, Eagle Christian Church, 100 S. Short Road, Eagle, Idaho 83616. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Idaho Humane Society.
