Joe DeJaynes

Boise, Idaho

Joe DeJaynes passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024 surrounded by his beloved family. Born on May 14, 1950, Joe grew up in Nampa, ID, where he and the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, built their dream farmstead home from ground up- a testament of their hard-work, dedication, and shared dreams.

A true outdoorsman, Joe had a lifelong love for nature. From fishing the rivers and lakes across the United States, British Columbia, Alaska, and Saudi Arabia to hunting and gardening. Just this past November, Joe took a memorable hunting trip with his oldest grandson Joey, both proudly filling their tags and creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Joe's ability to share his passion with those he loved made him a treasured mentor, friend, and family member.

Joe also shared his love for the outdoors and simple pleasures- like a good cup of coffee- with his hand picked brother and best friend, Melvin Thornton. The two were inseparable, finding joy in the rhythm of farm life, countless conversations, and the quiet beauty of early mornings on the lane.

Known for his generosity, Joe was always willing to lend a hand, particularly to the new farmers on the lane, who looked to him for guidance and encouragement. To the children, he was "Farmer Joe", a kind hearted friend who often brought home rescued wildlife, including a fox, badger, and owls, sparking wonder and joy for all.

Above all, Joe was a family man. He adored his wife, was a proud father, and grandfather of six grandchildren. His love and wisdom will remain a guiding light for his family and community.

Joe's passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of services, Joe asks those wishing to honor him are encouraged to spend time outdoors, help a neighbor, or savior a quiet moment with a warm cup of coffee in his memory.

Rest easy Joe, husband, dad, grandpa and friend. You've sown seeds of love and kindness that will grow for generations to come.

Joe is survived by his wife, Anne, daughters Kathy Sommars and Lisa Winslow. Granddaughter Krista Winslow and grandsons Joey (Lakin) Winslow, Jacobe Sommars, Jaycen Sommars, Presley Winslow and Tyler Winslow. Sisters Sandy, Sharon, Gloria, and Penny, and many nieces and nephews.

Proceeded in death by mother, Zenith Mutio, son-in-law Ron Sommars, and brother-in-laws Robert Clemmons and Donnie Stevens.
