Gerald Kinnith Gibson

–

Boise, Idaho

Gerald Kinnith Gibson was born on September 12, 1952 in Eureka, Montana and passed away on February 20, 2017 at his home in Meridian, Idaho. He was 65 years old. He is survived by his wife Sherlynn, his five step children, many grand children, one brother, and one sister, all of whom will greatly miss him.

Jerry lost his sight completely when he was only 19 years old, but he never let that stop him. He still traveled all over the United States working many different jobs, including one in which he spent 6 months on an Alaskan fishing boat. He eventually decided to settle down in the Treasure Valley, which is where he met his wife, Sherlynn, in the early 1980's. Together they raised five children.

Jerry was an avid woodworker and inventor, with one of his inventions being patented. He was a straight shooter and was never short of a good idea, great advice, or a good joke and was always thinking up "the next big thing." He started a company in the 1990's called N.O.A.D. which was intended to help disabled people succeed in life. In recent years he also opened up Cougar Mountain Furniture in which he personally made hand crafted wood furniture to sell. He was not a quitter. In fact, he was the kind of man that didn't let his physical handicap stop him from doing what a sighted person could do. Instead, he strived to do it better.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family and friends when needed. He loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. He was extremely intelligent. His family would tell you he was a "human phone book" as he never wrote a phone number down, but instead kept them all in his head. And that is simply amazing!

God made you one unique individual and we look forward to one day seeing you in the presence of the Lord. Until then we will think of you with much love and fond memories. Amen.
