Gail Eileen (Paterson) Oates Obituary (1942

Our incredible and beautifully spirited Mama, Gail Eileen (Paterson) Oates, was called home to meet Jesus on Monday, June 28th, 2021. Her son, Jason Oates and daughter, Brianna (Oates) Riley were holding her hand and stroking her hair when she took her last breath. She had been surrounded by daughter-in-law, Amy Oates and son-in-law, Robert Riley, along with her four grandchildren, Aubriella Oates, Dresden Riley, Ashleigh Oates and Addison Oates, who were her pride & joy. Gigi knew how to spoil her children and her grandchildren were recipients of that as well. She had a hard time saying "no" and gave without end. Her faith was fierce, and she would have given Wonder Woman a run for her strength and perseverance. She was the classiest of any lady, right up until her last night here on earth, thanking a nurse for helping her. As a single mom, she plowed through any obstacle like it needed to fear her. She never had anything mean to say about anyone, despite how she was treated. She passed down in her legacy of who she was to the core, representing the love of Jesus towards all. Gail was born in Pointe-a-Pierre, Trinidad on March 10, 1942 as the oldest of five and is greeted in Heaven by her mother & father, Evelyn (Fraser) Paterson and Neville Paterson, her brother Mark Paterson, sister Vere Paterson, sister-in-law Jane Paterson and brother-in-law Roger Oakes. Gail, no doubt will be watching over her baby sister, Kay (Paterson) Oakes and baby brother, Pat Paterson. Surely, she is gardening in Heaven with our Grandma Charlotte and Grandpa Larry Rawie, who adopted our family from the start. Mom was our local "Martha Stewart" and seem to do it all. Our joy resides in believing that God always delivers on His promises. She taught us to believe in Him at all costs. Until our time comes to be greeted by her again, may her presence continue to be felt and her love live on, in all of us.
