David Murray

–

Boise, Idaho

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dave Murray, age 69, of Boise, Idaho, who valiantly battled cancer for 9 months. Dave peacefully left this world at home on August 19th, 2023, surrounded by the love and care of his devoted family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Irene Murray, Dave leaves behind his dear brother, John (Pat) Murray, and sister, Paula Taylor, his cherished daughter, Addie Neal (Murray), and son-in-law, Phillip Neal, who provided unwavering support and comfort during his final months, opening their home to care for him with love and compassion. His partner, Linda Waid, stood by his side throughout his journey, offering her love and strength. Dave's heart swelled with love for his three grandchildren Wyatt (12), Reid (9), Maya (7), who brought endless laughter and happiness to his life.

Dave's love for the outdoors was infectious. He was a man who found solace and joy in the great outdoors. He had a deep passion for fishing and spent countless hours casting lines into serene waters. Dave always loved the beauty of nature, he was at peace there. His connection with nature extended far into the backcountry of the Frank Church Wilderness of No Return in Idaho, where he found lifelong friends. He shared countless stories from his time at The Middlefork Lodge. "Come to the woods, for here is rest. There is no repose like that of deep green woods. Here grow the Wallflower and the Violet. The squirrel will come and sit upon your knee, the logcock will wake you in the morning. Sleep in the forgetfulness of all ill. Of all the upness accessible to mortals, there is no upness comparable to the mountains."-John Muir.
Dave's tales of adventure and camaraderie in the wilderness and all throughout his life will be treasured by all who had the privilege of hearing them. Friends and family will forever remember Dave's warm smile, and his ability to find joy in the simplest of moments. His legacy will continue to live on through the memories he created, the love he shared, and the stories he told.

He will forever be remembered for his vibrant (yet stubborn)spirit, his love for the outdoors, and his ability to touch the lives of those around him with
his warmth and kindness.
As we bid farewell to a beloved father, partner, grandfather, brother, and friend, let us remember the enduring legacy of love he leaves behind. May his memory continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held on September 5th, 2023 in Dave's hometown of Baker City,OR. AJ's Corner Brick Bar & Grill 1840 Main St, Baker City, OR 97814 at 2:30 pm. We come together to celebrate a life well-lived and to find comfort in the memories. He may be gone from our sight, but he will never be absent from our hearts.
"Though he walks in the valley of shadows, his spirit remains in the sunlight of our memories."
