Leland J. Hackwith

Leland (Lee) Hackwith, 78, of Baker City, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho. At his request there will be no service.

Mr. Hackwith was born May 4, 1938 in Kremmling, Colorado to Glendal and Ethel Deringer Hackwith. He was raised in Colorado and graduated from Loveland High school in 1956. He served in the Army from 1957-1960 and was stationed in Germany for most of that time. After he was discharged, he moved to Baker City doing freeway construction.

He married Mary Jane Bauder in 1963 and was employed by Ellingson Lumber and then Marvin Wood Products as a millwright and electrician until he retired. He was an avid reader and genealogist and was a friend to everyone, with a ready smile and great sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, son Jordan Hackwith (Kelly) of Cove, daughter Janna Shukle( Shane) of La Grande, sisters Wanda Hunter (Doug) of Cody, Wyoming and Marlene Moore of Loveland, Colorado, grandchildren Kendra Hackwith, Jaren Hackwith, Arianna Shukle and Gabe Shukle.
