Jeanette Ann O’Linger

Jeanette Ann O’Linger

Jeanette Ann (Hafner) O’Linger entered into her Heavenly Home on December 26, 2015. She was born in Omaha, NE on September 1, 1926 to Joseph and Celia (Shanahan) Hafner. Her family moved to Los Angeles from Omaha when she was two years old. She graduated from Holy Family Girls High School in Glendale, CA in 1943, and attended Riverside Junior College.

She married Robert O’Linger in 1949 at March Air Force Base, Riverside CA. A doctor told them they could not have children. They became born again Christians in 1955 and soon thereafter were expecting the first of their four children.

Jeanette was active in her local churches, in Prison Fellowship and Angel Tree ministries, and ministries to the deaf for decades. She also gave many people a safe place to stay and learn about Christ. These unrelated people still consider her ÒMom”. She touched many lives with loving compassion and found her greatest joy in serving others.

She was a career legal secretary in Riverside County, Orange County, and San Jose, CA. She supported her family as a single mother after her husband passed away. When she retired, she moved to Medford, OR to fulfill a lifelong dream of living in the Pacific Northwest. She spent her final years near her children in Coeur d’Alene and Boise, ID. She and her daughter JoAnn joined the DAR (Eagle Chapter) together in August 2015.

She is survived by her children, JoAnn (Paul) O’Linger-Luscusk of Boise, ID, Vivianne VanCamp, James O’Linger of Riverside, CA, and William (Libby) O’Linger of Toledo, OH, as well as nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert O’Linger (1972), sister June Hafner Hoyt (2012), and grandson Josiah O’Linger (2007).

The family would like to thank the staff of Ashley Manor and Auburn Crest Hospice for the loving care and support they gave to Jeanette during her final months and weeks.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10:00 am on February 6, 2016 at the New Hope Church of the Nazarene in Boise. Interment will be beside her husband at Olivewood Memorial Park in Riverside, CA.
