It is with great sadness to inform all the consummate pilots, elite gunsmiths, and accomplished mountain women and men in this world, that James Lee Carkhuff peacefully passed away of cancer on Sunday, June 13, 2021.
James is survived by his son Troy Carkhuff, daughter-in-law, Jody Carkhuff, daughter Brittany Holloway, son-in-law Eric Holloway, 3 grandchildren: Landon Carkhuff, Delaney Carkhuff, and Taylor Holloway, his brother Don Carkhuff, sister in law Barb Carkhuff, and his niece Lauren Pennington and nephew Matthew Carkhuff; along with each of their children.
James was a Wesleyan collegiate football player, avid Alaskan Bush pilot, producer, and published author. He was humble, profoundly honest, and enjoyed telling a good joke while being the first to laugh at it. James took immense pride in his family and would do anything for his children and grandchildren.
Never has a more difficult synopsis been written, because no matter what…parts of his amazing life get left out.
Please know that our father’s legacy is strong…and we shall humbly, and most importantly, proudly, carry on this family tradition of living with grace and immense love for our family. Let our Dad’s infectious laughter be a part of your lives.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 6th, 2021 at 11 am at Dry Creek Cemetery; 9600 Hill Road, Boise, ID. 83714.
