Inez June Beard Longmire was born October 28, 1925 in Emmett, Idaho. June peacefully left this earth on March 3, 2019, in her daughter’s home in Boise, Idaho, hearing her mother call her name. Her parents are Frederick Castile Beard and Mary Gertrude Proctor Beard, both born in Iowa. June was first married to Herbert G. Liggett, Sr., and later divorced. She then married Donald Roy Longmire, Sr. on May 6, 1955 and spent her life in Selah, Washington until moving to Boise, Idaho in 2009 into her daughter’s care.
June was vibrant with an enormous loving heart; she had a magnetic, infectious laugh and zest for life. Family was everything, her children her world, loving each one more than life. Even more, she loved every single grandchild without exception. Family knew no bounds, had no labels. She brought many sweet friends into that circle, as well, who’ve been part of the family for life. She enjoyed traveling to visit family and sites around them. She built an ‘oasis in the desert’ that became a sanctuary for birds and nature. Gardening, birding, baking, reading, and doing genealogy were her enjoyments. June had a huge heart for serving others and would drop everything to do so. She leaves an enormous legacy of love, kindness, and gratitude.
June is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers (Wayne Eugene Beard, Lawrence LaMonte Beard, and Frederick Dean Beard), and her husband, Donald Roy Longmire, Sr. (1915-1999). Surviving are her brother, Charles Proctor Beard (Alice), and her six children: Gwendolyn Liggett Shane (Jerry), Herbert G. Liggett, Jr. (Mary), Polly Longmire Weeks, Donald R. Longmire, Jr., Robbe A. Longmire (Babette), and Juneanne Longmire Gergen (Alan). In addition to numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
June will be buried in the Wenas Cemetery in Selah, WA on Monday, March 25th at 11 a.m. Immediately following will be a simple Memorial Luncheon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 702 North 1st Street.
