Galen Lyle Blanc

Galen Lyle Blanc age 86 of Boise Idaho, died peacefully at home of CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease) surrounded by his loving family on October 7th, 2021. Galen was born on January 24, 1935 in Emmett Idaho to Joseph Blanc and Edith Chapin Blanc. He attended public schools in Notus and Caldwell Idaho. He married Rosemarie Gates on August 15, 1953 in Nampa Idaho. They were blessed with four children. Galen’s wife Rosemarie died on January 22, 1998. In his work career he managed several body shops throughout the valley working for wonderful people such as Jim Hessing, Marv Peterson, and John Treharne. He later owned his own body shop, Galen Blancs Auto Body, on Americana Blvd and Front St, in Boise Idaho. Galen’s passion in life centered around building, restoring, and racing old cars, jeeps, whizzers, motorcycles, snowmobiles and just about anything with a motor and wheels. Throughout the years he received many awards and trophies. He received the Master Builder award at the 2006 Boise Roadster Show for his 1936 Ford Roadster. Galen married Gayle Talkington Carter on March 19, 2010, In Middleton Idaho. They enjoyed 11 wonderful years together until his untimely death. Galen is survived by his wife Gayle Blanc: his sister Wanda Blanc McConnell: his sons Dan Blanc, Jeff Blanc (Sandy), and Rob Blanc: daughter Gayla Blanc (John Cowlishaw): grandchildren Cheney Blanc Packer (Michael Packer), Cooper Blanc, Carter Blanc, Kourtney Blanc Harding (Kaden Harding), Keith Blanc (Angela Ponce Blanc), Katie Blanc: and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosemarie, his parents, six siblings, a granddaughter Kendal Blanc, and a grandson Kyle Blanc. There will be a Celebration of Galen’s life/Open House Friday October 22 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm at Galen’s shop behind his home.
