Francis Leroy Adams

Francis Leroy Adams 97, died on January 29, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born on March 25, 1920 In Gage, Oklahoma to Anna and John Adams. He left Gage after the first semester of his Junior year in 1938 and moved to Idaho. He graduated from Melba High School In 1940 and then went Into the Army for 4 years. Francis was a World War II Veteran and two of those years were spent In Europe with the 106th Infantry Division, He was wounded in action and discharged In 1945. Francis then moved to Los Angeles, Callfornia and worked for Union OIL.

Francis married Barbara Jean Netley on October 1, 1963. They moved to Sacramento, California In 1965 to be near Barbaras’ granddaughters Karen and Nancy. His wife Barbara died on July 25, 1975. Francis met Sue Stevenson and her son Jeremy in
February of 1983. They became family and Francis bacame their “Papa Fran.”

Francis retired In 1987 and would spend his time living In California and Idaho. Sue married Bill Drennon on December 5, 1987. After their daughter Bethany was born they came to visit Papa Fran In ldaho. Sue, Bill, Jeremy and Bethany moved to Boise, Idaho on August 14, 1989. Papa Fran lived with the Drennons part-time untll 2003 when he came to live with them “forever.”

Francis was always there to help in any way that he could. Papa was early to bed and early to rise. He read his Bible every night before he went to sleep. He was a true gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor, knowledge, stories and jokes. He Is survived by those who called him Papa, Grandpa, Uncle, and Friend. He Is preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings. Awesome will be the day when we all get to see him again and never have to say goodbye.
