Earl Ivan Armstrong

Earl Ivan Armstrong passed away peacefully on December 19, 2021. He was born in 1936 to Vetta and Dallas Vancil in Burns Oregon. Earl joined the Navy (at age 17) for 2 years. He then worked on various cattle ranches in eastern Oregon for 5 years. During this time he married Gayle Travis; they were married for 30 years and had 2 sons Don and Dean. Earl then moved his family to Vale Oregon. He became a mechanic and raced cars at the Onterio race track for 2 years. He then moved to Payette Idaho where he worked as a mechanic and drove a wrecker truck for 10 years while raising his family. In 1976 Earl started long haul trucking all over the western United States; he was a long haul trucker for the next 11 years. Earl met Rosie Malson in 1999. They were together for 11 years until she passed away. Then in 2010 Earl met Betty Jordan; they loved to dance together and went dancing 2 or 3 times a week. They remained partners in love and dance until his passing. Earl has a son Rick from his first marriage to Arta Benson. He has 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Earl’s sweetness and gregarious nature endeared him to all who knew him. He was a unique character who will be missed by many people.
